Friday Thought: The truth of beauty

 

This week saw transport minister John Hayes publish a speech,which like the Robert Frost poem it references, speaks of ‘a road less travelled’ and how that could make all the difference.

The title is ‘beautiful roads’ and it is an eloquent call to arms for the nation’s road builders to begin undoing ‘the most intrusive, insensitive road design of the past 50 years’ while also delivering a £15bn roads investment programme over the next parliament that will expand the network by something like 1,300 lane miles.
