Applications close on Wednesday (24 July) for the latest round of a programme that aims to grow the capability of women in the transport sector to carry out significant leadership roles.
The Women in Transport (WiT) ‘Lead’ programme is a 100% virtual leadership development programme tailored to the capability and progression needs of women leaders in transport.
Although Lead is a paid programme that needs to be funded by participants or their organisation, WiT said it provides excellent value for money and will help women leaders in transport drive forward their career.

It said Lead is designed to evolve and grow the leadership capability and confidence of women who are already in, or are aspiring to, significant leadership roles in the transport sector.
Women leaders join a supportive cohort from a diverse range of transport and infrastructure organisations to authentically expand their networks through stimulating shared learning experiences.
Previous participants come from companies such as the British Transport Police; Deloitte; First Rail; National Highways; Network Rail; Transport for Greater Manchester, Transport for London, Transport for Wales, and WSP.

'Lead supports those on the programme to progress to senior positions; providing practical skills, an environment in which to practice them and the support of a high quality alumnae network. Women supporting women is making a positive difference!'
The Autumn 2024 programme begins in September. The programme fee is £4,495 plus VAT per participant plus £60 for WiT membership, although a bursary is available.
WiT says it welcomes bursary applications from underrepresented groups who face barriers to access funding and those who are self-employed, working in an SME, charity or non-profit.
Applications for both the autumn programme and the bursary close at 5pm on 24 July 2024, with the notification of the bursary award a week later. The identity of the person awarded the bursary will not be shared publicly.
Applicants must be able to commit to the dates for the Autumn 2024 programme and priority will be given to existing members, although WiT may also gift a discretionary year of membership to the person awarded the bursary.
The bursary has been funded with a donation from the Worshipful Company of Carmen, which is one of the 110 livery companies in the City of London and represents a wide range of aspects within the transport and logistics sector.
