There’s no way we want system says Chelmsford

One-third of people have told Essex County Council they do not think congestion is a problem in Chelmsford, and most do not back plans for a new one-way system.
The council proposed the one-way system for the town to keep traffic moving in a clockwise circuit, while barring general traffic on Duke Street.
A spokeswoman said that residents’ surprisingly-high satisfaction with traffic flows was partly down to the success of the new park-and-ride service, introduced two months ago, which removed 500 vehicles from Chelmsford every day.
