Thumbs-up for £530M SEERA improvements

The Government has approved £530M of transport improvements, recommended by the South East England Regional Transport board.
The improvements, planned for the period 2011-2016, include a new Brighton and Hove rapid bus service; bus-priority measures on the A34 to improve access to Oxford; the ‘coastal expressway ‘ in West Sussex; and improvements to the A27 Chichester Bypass, to help reduce congestion.
Cllr Nick Skellett, chair of SEERA’s transport board, said: ‘This is a success for the board, and I am delighted that the region has secured funding for vital transport projects.’ Other priorities include a dedicated bus service for Ashford and coach and bus services for the Reading, Slough and Basingstoke area.
