A series of violent incidents in Nottingham have resulted in the deaths of three people with three more injured and disruption to transport across the city.
Nottinghamshire Police said on Tuesday afternoon that they were keeping an open mind over the motive of what they called ‘a city attack’, adding that they had arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder and believed there is no one else outstanding in connection with the incidents.

Police were called to Ilkeston Road just after 4am on Tuesday morning after two people had been killed.
Officers were then called to another incident in Milton Street where a van was said to have attempted to run over three people. One man was said to be in a critical condition while two others were believed to have suffered minor injuries.
A man was also found dead in Magdala Road shortly afterwards.
On Tuesday afternoon a number of major roads in the city centre were still closed as a ‘thorough police investigation’ was underway. The entire NET Nottingham Tram service was also closed.
In a statement, Nottingham City Council leader David Mellen, said: ‘I am shocked and saddened by these horrific deaths. My thoughts and prayers are with those who knew and loved the three people who have died and those who have been injured, and to the communities where they lived.
‘Ours is an overwhelmingly peaceful and tolerant city where people get along with one another and it’s incomprehensible that such dreadful violence has happened here.
‘I’m grateful to the police for swiftly making an arrest and for all the emergency services responding to this tragic situation and keeping us safe.’
The tram network had already been disrupted after a separate incident on Monday evening when a tram at the Bulwell stop was said to have struck a pole supporting overhead line equipment. NET said all passengers were able to safely evacuate the tram.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said on Monday evening that it had multiple fire engines at the incident and that no trams were likely to run between Wilkinson Street and Hucknall for 48 hours.
