Morton steps in as Heaton-Harris leaves transport

 

Wendy Morton MP has been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport (DfT), taking up a ministerial vacancy left by Chris Heaton-Harris.

The former transport minister had responsibility for rail among other briefs and is moving to the Foreign Office to become Minister of State for Europe under Liz Truss' team.

He has switched over with Ms Morton, who was previously minister for Europe and Americas at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

She was also was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice from 26 July 2019 to 13 February 2020 and Assistant Government Whip from 9 January 2018 to 26 July 2019.

First elected as Conservative MP for Aldridge-Brownhills in May 2015, she was a member of the International Development Committee from 2015 until 2018.

Her ministerial duties at the DfT have yet to be confirmed.
