Leeds the perfect place for ADEPT conference

This year’s ADEPT Autumn Conference will build on the council directors body's priority themes for this year - people, place and planet.

With the strapline, Place Leadership in a Perfect Storm, it will take place on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 November at the Hilton Hotel, Leeds and aims to encapsulate ‘how the multiple crises facing the UK come together in place’.

ADEPT said its focus will be on the key concerns for local government, ‘which need to be seen against the continuing and considerable backdrop of Covid-19, climate change and environmental degradation, and the significant economic and financial challenges globally, nationally and locally’.

Through a series of plenary and workshop sessions the conference will look at tackling climate change and its role in levelling up, financial systems in support of place, climate and levelling up, and policy coherence and support for strategic agendas.

The draft programme, which is subject to change, includes a keynote speech on the opening morning from Sophie Howe, future generations commissioner for Wales.

Friday’s programme starts early with a walking tour allowing participants to experience the transformation of Leeds City Centre public realm and the Corn Exchange integrated transport hub (pictured).
