LEP governance must operate on 'trust', government minister says

 

The Government will not step in to tighten Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) governance structures despite fears of a ‘democratic deficit’ within the key bodies, it has emerged.

Speaking to Transport Network at an LEP Network event on Tuesday, communities minister Baroness Williams said the local arrangements must operate on ‘trust’ even though LEPs oversee billions of pounds of public money through the Local Growth Fund.
