Kensington and Chelsea award £65m parking contract

Kensington and Chelsea council has awarded NSL a new 12-year £65m contract for civil enforcement parking services.

The contract covers on-street enforcement, housing estate civil parking enforcement, vehicle removal and relocation, and pound management in one of the most densely populated areas in the country.

KSL said 100 civil enforcement officers in the borough ‘will benefit from introduction of new real-time intelligence, advanced deployment methods and new environmentally friendly electric bikes to help maximise operational efficiencies and response times’.

There will also be some service consolidation with neighbouring Hammersmith and Fulham, operating vehicle removal and relocation services from a shared co-located vehicle pound.

Cllr Tim Coleridge, Kensington and Chelsea’s cabinet member for transport, said: ‘Our priority is to keep traffic moving and make sure residents and visitors have somewhere to park. Working with NSL has allowed us to achieve this and I am sure the new technologies and initiatives it is introducing in Kensington and Chelsea will be of benefit.’

Mark Hoskin, NSL’s executive director for local government, said, ‘We are of course delighted to be continuing our strong partnership with Kensington and Chelsea. Building on the progress we’ve made over the past 10 years we will be able to deliver improved outcomes for the benefit of all members of the local community.’

Kensington and Chelsea originally appointed NSL in 2006. NSL currently has over 70 contracts with local, regional and central government, as well as with airports and the private sector.
