Free webinar to illuminate sign lighting technology

Sign illumination will be the focus of the third instalment in 3M’s Lunchtime Learning Series of free webinars about traffic signage.

The free webinar will run from 12.00 to 13.00 on Wednesday (27 September), led by Andy Fish, a technical specialist at the science-based technology company.

Mr Fish will begin by discussing what makes an effective traffic sign, before giving an overview of some of the different materials and lighting technologies available.

He will go on to explain how much light a traffic sign needs and why, as well as offering an analysis of drivers’ lighting requirements.

Finally, Mr Fish will apply this information to some real-world scenarios and put the theory into practice with an interactive quiz.

As with other instalments of the quarterly 3M Lunchtime Learning Series, the webinar will be broadcast live online, allowing viewers to participate and ask questions in real time. It will be suitable for everyone from design engineers to road safety managers.

Mr Fish said: ‘Clear and effective traffic signs are essential for public safety and the efficient operation of the UK’s road network. This webinar will provide industry professionals with an opportunity to learn more about the latest information relating to sign illumination, and to ask any questions they may have.

‘Our Lunchtime Learning Series has been really well received so far this year, so I hope to see plenty of engagement and participation. I encourage those who are interested to register early, mark their diaries and invite colleagues to do likewise.’
