The Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and in recognition of its long-standing support of Traffex will be offering visitors free membership for the remainder of 2015.
Founded in 1965, the IHE is a leading professional body representing highway and traffic engineering workers. Those who take up the offer could save around £149 on the fellow grade membership.
As well as a host of fringe benefits, including a discounted rate of £36 for a year's subscription to Surveyor magazine, IHE members will gain significant career advancement opportunities, chief executive, Stephen Palmer, told Transport Network.
'We facilitate members becoming professionally registered with the Engineering Council. Those who are professionally registered and part of professional bodies see their earnings increase and benefit from the advice, support and recognition of the sector,' he said.
Mr Palmer added events like Traffex were of particular importance given the current state of the local road network, which he warned was 'frankly falling apart'.
'The biggest issue facing the entire sector is how can we maintain our local roads to an acceptable standard. Events like Traffex demonstrate new techniques and advances that help us work more effectively and efficiently and help our understanding as professionals,' he said.
'It is always going to be important to learn about new products and see how they can be applied to your own environment,' he added.
IHE membership is open to all those working in the highways sector and membership grades are tailored to individual levels of experience and/or qualifications. You do not need qualifications to start benefiting from membership of IHE.
