A British Airways engineer has died following a collision between two vehicles on the taxiway at Heathrow Airport.
The Metropolitan Police said its officers were called at 06:06hrs on Wednesday (14 February) following a collision and attended with the London Ambulance Service.
One man, aged in his 40s, was taken to a west London hospital with serious injuries. He has since died. Another man is believed to have sustained a broken shoulder; his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.
Officers have informed the dead man’s next of kin and the police await formal identification. A post-mortem will be scheduled in due course.
The Met said officers from its Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating. There have been no arrests and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
A British Airways spokesperson said: ‘We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident and are offering our full care and support to his family and colleagues.’
A Heathrow spokesperson said: 'We can confirm that following a serious accident involving two vehicles on our airfield, a British Airways colleague has passed away. Our deepest condolences go to the family and friends affected by this accident.
'We will be fully cooperating with the Police in the investigation which will follow.'
The incident delayed a small number of flights.
