£4m tech asset management deal won by Capita

 

Outsourcing specialist Capita has scooped a 15-month £4m contract with Highways England to replace its asset management system for roadside technology maintenance teams.

In collaboration with Mott MacDonald the firm will also provide associated consultancy services and continued operation of traffic management central logging and information services.

The Streamlined Data Services (SDS) Lite contract will see a new asset management system in place by July 2016 through Capita’s OPENAssets platform, while Mott MacDonald’s will continue to support the HALOGEN central logging system, which securely captures over 25 million operational asset records each month.

Janet Foreman, ICT senior project manager at Highways England, said: ‘SDS Lite will go a long way towards upgrading, simplifying, and improving systems which had developed independently of each other and which did not provide a full suite of fault management tools.’

Under the new system technology maintenance providers can collect data and report highways issues at their source using a range of a devices under Capita’s Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) capability, which supports Apple IOS, Google Android and Windows Mobile 8.1.

Simon Reeves, director of Capita Technology said: ‘By enhancing and modernising the asset management system and introducing BYOD, Capita will support Highways England’s goal of improving efficiency and service.

‘We will be working closely with Highways England to ensure the move to bring your own device is introduced as seamlessly as possible, and helps make managing the technology estate more effective and more flexible for its technology maintenance teams.’
