National Infrastructure Commission on the hunt for new CEO

The National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) is looking for a new chief executive officer, after Phil Graham announced he is moving on to the Greater London Authority.

Mr Graham will take up a position as executive director for good growth at City Hall in January.

His replacement is in line for a £92k a year role helping lead the government agency, acting as the primary advisor to the chair of the NIC and other commissioners on policy, strategy and governance issues.

Alongside this, they will develop the strategic vision for the NIC, its interaction with ministers, parliament and wider sectors.

The country is actually due for a National Infrastructure Strategy, which should have been released last week but has been delayed due to the election.

In July 2018 the NIC published the first ever National Infrastructure Assessment (NIA), setting out a plan of action for the country’s infrastructure over the next 10 to 30 years.

It made recommendations on transport, energy, water and waste water, flood resilience, digital connectivity and solid waste in addition to other crosscutting issues.

The NIC is currently starting work on the second National Infrastructure Assessment
