Zig-zag parkers marked

London Borough of Bromley has erected bold new warning signs outside a number of its schools to remind motorists not to park on zig-zag line markings.

The local authority is clamping down on what it calls ‘thoughtless and selfish’ drivers who choose to park on the zig-zags. Its civil enforcement officers will patrol the borough in a mobile CCTV unit to impose the restrictions outside schools. Those parking on the zig-zags risk fines of up to £120.

Cllr Colin Smith, executive councillor for environment, said: ‘These markings are in place to ensure that approaching drivers can see children entering and leaving the school, and children can see passing vehicles.’
