Work starts on £2.6M scheme to repair M62 bridge

The Highways Agency (HA) is undertaking a £2.6M project to repair Rakewood Viaduct along the M62 in Greater Manchester.

Preparatory work for the improvements is under way, and the main works will begin on 25 September. The scheme will involve new lighting and a replacement central safety barrier, and is expected to be completed by the end of November.

Andrew Olive, the HA’s project manager, said: ‘This is an important investment in this vital section of the M62. We will be working hard to publicise the traffic management arrangements as they change throughout the life of the programme, and we have already advised the haulage industry of the limited restrictions we will be putting in place.’
