Thurrock Council has launched a new initiative in partnership with bus company Arriva to encourage literacy – and make short trips on public transport more enjoyable.
Ride and Read is intended for people to pass the time while travelling by reading books donated from council libraries, and to encourage literacy. Books can either be left behind on the bus or returned at the library. Ride and Read started on the 383 service linking Grays, Lakeside, Chadwell and Brentwood Road Estate.
