Wiltshire makes visible effort to tackle dirty jobs

A Wiltshire council has introduced a new emergency response section to deal with incidences of fly-tipping, over-flowing bins and problems with public conveniences.

The department consists of two teams which will also respond to peak-time workloads, ensuring the best-possible service is available to customers. The teams have been formed as part of improvements to North Wiltshire District Council’s Streetscene.

Lead member for waste at North Wiltshire District Council, Cllr Toby Sturgis, said: ‘The emergency response section has been formed to ensure we are able to react quickly to problems that our customers encounter. The teams will be very visible with their own vans and will work closely with the community and parish stewards to further improve standards of cleanliness on the streets of North Wiltshire.’
