Western areas hard-hit as freak weather blows in

Freak weather led to storms, flooding and even tornadoes causing disruption across the country last week.
The Met Office issued a nationwide severe weather warning last week, but the worst-affected areas were in the Southwest and Wales.
Torrential rain wreaked havoc in Devon, Cornwall and the South Coast on 25 November, leaving roads, business and homes flooded and walls and hedges destroyed.
Five drivers in Devon needed to be rescued by firefighters after their cars became stuck in floods, as the region experienced what the county’s fire service described as ‘extensive’ floods.
The bad weather continued into this week, with a Ceredigion village in Wales hit by a small tornado on Tuesday morning. More than 20 houses were affected with roofs and chimneys blown off and electricity cables brought down.
