Well dressed for summer

Northumberland County Council has started its annual surface dressing programme.

The local authority will target 43 locations county-wide, covering around 45 miles of carriageway over the course of the next five months.

The works are part of a £19M capital investment in the county’s highway improvements and maintenance. David Laux, the council’s head of highways and transport, said: ‘Surface dressing is a very cost-effective method of improving and maintaining the road surface of our rural roads.’
