New training to help deal with enforcing anti-fly tipping regulations will be available from the autumn.
The course, for local authority enforcement and legal officers, will focus on several aspects of application, ranging from health and safety to conflict management. The courses will be offered by Encams, following a Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs-funded pilot, and are due to be available from September.
The Environment Agency estimates there are at least 50,000 incidents of fly-tipping each year at a cost of between £100M and £150M to clean up.
