Waste: Burying fears over landfill

 
There will not be ‘any significant problems’ following the start of this week’s ban on landfilling shredded tyres, it was claimed.
The Tyre Industry Federation said its members had been preparing for the ban for six years, and had already achieved a 95% recovery rate of used tyres, based on preliminary data for 2005.
The voluntary ‘responsible recycler’ scheme, for instance, covered higher volumes than any other voluntary scheme in Europe.
