The Environment Agency is pleased with the first month of a ban on the landfilling of tyres.
A spokesman reported that in general, there had been no large increase in dumping of tyres following the 16 July ban. There had, however, been reports of a number incidents in the Northwest of England – due to recycling-capacity issues – ‘which we are dealing with’.
The Tyre Industry Federation said its members were achieving recovery of around 95% of end-of-life tyres.
