Walking is all the fashion, stylish fitness gurus tell commuters

 
Commuters in London have benefited from the motivation tactics of a squad of 1980s-styled fitness instructors, from charity Living Streets, who said they got very excited about walking to work.

The squad, organised to celebrate Walk to Work Day 2008, were quick to point out that surprisingly, 109 Tube stations in central London were faster to walk between than to travel by Tube.

Ben Plowden, director of the Smarter Travel Unit at TfL said: 'Walking isn’t only the cheapest way to travel. It’s often much quicker than people imagine.'
