The UK’s largest independent road marking company, WJ, has bought up Euromark GB Ltd, the road marking division of Eurovia UK Ltd in a multimillion pound deal.
In a statement, WJ said the Euromark GB operation has been fully integrated into the existing WJ business providing job security for over 450 employees within the enlarged group.
The deal brings together WJ’s extensive presence on the strategic road network with Eurovia UK’s contacts in the local authority world.
Wayne Johnston WJ Group managing director told Transport Network: 'This is a multimillion pound investment designed not for WJ to get bigger but to make us stronger and more flexible in delivering our vision for an exceptional service to clients
He added:'This is good news for all with continued investment in research and development we can drive innovation and radically change the road marking industry to the benefit of all employed in the sector, our clients, road users and the communities within which we work.’
Through acquiring Euromark’s trade and assets, WJ will benefit from not only long-term road markings contracts but also expertise and a further thermoplastic production facility based in Bradford.
Scott Wardrop, chief executive officer of Eurovia UK said: ‘This was a strategic decision for us to ensure even greater flexibility and programme delivery of road markings for our clients. We have been collaborating with WJ for some time and feel confident that the new arrangement will provide us with an effective and reliable service locally and nationally.’
