Shopkeepers rallied together in a small North Wales village to block council attempts to extend the footway outside their stores.
The owners of shops in the small coastal town of Abersoch forced
Gwynedd council to rethink plans that would have seen the footway widened and parking bays created. As the work was due to begin last week, protesters met with council officers over fears the extended footways would put shoppers off from stopping near their premises.
Council highways officer,
~Dafydd Williams~ said: ‘I spoke to people who had concerns about the work, and after that, we have decided not to leave things as they were.’
