Hull City Council has unveiled multimillion-pound plans to transform the city’s historic West Park.
The local authority’s proposals, in conjunction with regeneration agency, Gateway could see £7M invested in the park over the course of the next five to six years.
Residents will have the chance to have their say in a public consultation as the proposals aimed at reviving the park’s Victorian heritage with a ‘dramatic, contemporary twist’ are put on display this month.
The suggestions include a new entrance, based on the original 1890s design, new lighting, public artworks and sculptures, a ‘paddling’ lake, and restored historic features and bandstand.
Cllr Rick Welton, Hull's cabinet member for regeneration, said: ‘The scale, the ambition and the quality of the proposals highlight just how important West Park is to the local community and to the city as a whole.’
