Venues pay the price

 
Portsmouth City Council is cracking down on flyposting, with strict new rules to deter people from illegally advertising their venue or event.
Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act, the council will issue fines and clean-up charges to the ‘beneficiary’ of the poster, which means venues hosting an event can end up paying a penalty for the offence, even if they did not put up the poster themselves.
