An innovative system of flashing warning lights has been unveiled in Leicestershire, in a bid to slash accidents on one of the Midlands’ most dangerous roads.
The linked flashing-chevron signs, which are triggered by speeding vehicles, have been placed on a series of bends on the A6006 by ~Leicestershire County Council~ in what Norfolk-based sign designer Westcotec said was the first UK installation.
The normal, reflective chevron signs will be transformed into a pulsing LED display when speeding drivers are detected by radar units at each bend, to warn them of the severity of the corner. The bend has seen more than 25 serious accidents in the past three years.
