Two burning to serve Bucks

Buckinghamshire County Council has shortlisted two bidders for its proposed new waste incinerator,as part of its ‘energy from waste’initiative.

Covanta Energy and Waste Recycling Group have made it through, but the council has chosen not to shortlist Veolia Environmental Services. The remaining bidders, both of which are proposing modern incinerators which meet emission and safety standards and promise to generate enough electricity to power 20,000 houses, will now have to submit final tenders to win the contract.

The preferred bidder will be chosen by the council by the end of the year.
