Trial puts Nottingham tram operators in the picture

A new on-tram CCTV system is being introduced across Nottingham’s Express Transit network.

After a successful trial, tram 208 became the first to be fitted out with the chosen system from CCTV expert Vision Techniques. It now boasts a total of eight cameras, six within the tram and two cameras facing outwards, from either end of the vehicle.

The system continually records data and keeps it for seven days. Important footage can be archived longer. Tram drivers will be able to ‘mark’ footage as important to highlight incidents, using a button on their consoles.
