Tree scheme branches out

Twenty London boroughs are set to benefit from up to 4,000 new street trees in the second round of planting this year.

Mayor Boris Johnson pledged to plough efficiency savings into 10,000 street trees to improve Londoners’ quality of life. This latest round of planting follows the previous planting of 1,500 trees in 10 boroughs.

The second batch of trees will be planted between November and spring next year.

The boroughs and organisations which have been awarded the funding will now speak to members of the public who registered an interest in trees in their streets in order to assess suitability.
