Transport leaders voice fury over ‘infernal’ funding competitions

 

Local government transport leaders were at loggerheads this with the Department for Transport (DfT) this week over the success of devolution and funding pots, with pressure mounting for the abolition of ‘infernal’ cash competitions.

Concerns were raised after transport minister baroness Kramer told an audience at the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) national conference that devolution of transport powers was now ‘very deeply embedded’ in Coalition thinking.
