Transport leaders recognised in New Year's Honours list

 

National and local transport grandees and community figures have been rewarded in the New Year’s Honours list 2016.

Robert Devereux the permanent secretary at the Department for Work and Pensions was made a Knights Commander of the Order of the Bath, for services to transport and welfare and for voluntary service in Kilburn, London.

Two senior transport figures were made Companions of the Order of the Bath; Stephen Gooding who was lately director-general at the Roads, Traffic and Local Group at the Department for Transport and Clare Moriarty lately director-general, of the Rail Executive, Department for Transport. Both won their honours for services to transport.

Nigel Blackler of Cornwall Council, now an OBE

Dr Barry Humphreys, who was lately chairman of the British Air Transport Association, was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for services to aviation and charity.

And Lucy Nicola Shaw, chief executive officer of High Speed 1 and lately non-executive director, of Aer Lingus plc also won a CBE for services to transport.

Senior local figures won OBEs (Officers of the Order of the British Empire) for services to transport. Nigel Blackler head of strategy, enterprise and environment at Cornwall Council won an OBE for transport services in Cornwall and Dana Skelley, director of asset management at Transport for London won an OBE for services to transport in the UK.

An MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) was also handed to Edwina Edwards, chief executive of Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport. She was awarded the honour for services to the community in Derbyshire.

Janice Davidson, personal assistant to chief operating officer at Translink. For services to public transport in Northern Ireland.
