Transport: Hampshire studies alternatives to the school run

 
The effectiveness of yellow buses in reducing school run traffic is to be weighed against the impact of measures to encourage walking, cycling, car-sharing and greater use of existing buses in Hampshire. Hampshire County Council leader Cllr Ken Thornber (pictured), launching the plan, said: ‘In three pilot areas, we’ll be testing a range of alternatives to the car, as well as offering the new buses. ‘We want to give more parents a better choice on how their children get to school.’ The cabinet has decided to earmark £1.5M for the three-year-long pilots, which inform future decisions on school transport.
