Transport: Byers backs re-regulation

 
Blairite former transport secretary Stephen Byers has backed calls to give passenger transport executives London-style powers to regulate bus services and control strategic roads.
Byers put his name to a 10-minute rule Bill proposed by another former Labour cabinet minister, Nick Brown, following a Local Government Association report backing the creation of more powerful, Transport for London-style PTEs.
