Transport: Authority adds a splash of colour to ease the school run

Manchester’s yellow bus fleet is set to expand after the passenger authority agreed to serve a new school in congested Stockport.
Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority has approved the decision to add three new vehicles – costing £143,000 each – to its existing 29-strong fleet. Two buses will serve Offerton High School in Stockport, while a fifth vehicle will be introduced at Standish Community High School in Wigan. The buses call at special pick-up and drop-off points close to pupils’ homes.
The GMPTE said children sit in seatbelt-equipped seats and are driven by the same driver each day, in order to help build a good relationship.
