Trafford's clean fleet is a cut above

Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council’s new ‘green’ fleet has resulted in a 42% drop in carbon dioxide emissions from all council vehicles since its roll out in January 2007.

The vehicles contain clean and fuel-efficient engines which will be replaced in the entire fleet by 2011. Many are also fitted with a satellite-tracking system which manages journey times more effectively, reducing fuel usage and emissions.

Executive councillor, Matt Colledge, said: ‘Not only is the new fleet bringing real value for money for local people, it’s helping make our borough cleaner and greener.’
