Traffic officers cut congestion, figures show

The traffic officer service has cut incident-related congestion in the West Midlands by 13%, according to new figures from the Highways Agency.
Traffic officers in the region, the first to start operating in England, also 'exceeded all their targets', including attending 90% of all incidents within 15 minutes and clearing 83% within half an hour.
The HA has nearly recruited the full complement of 1,500 traffic officers, and they are now attending 1,000 incidents every day.
