Traffic management: Essex jams given the V-sign

 
Essex’s traffic manager has claimed a new traffic management system set up by the council to deal with the popularity of the V Festival a success.
Brian Goodwin told Surveyor that closing off roads to non festival-goers at a number of points on the A414 on the 19 and 20 August had worked, creating ‘a number of different spokes’ or routes to the event.
Using a central reservation to turn around confused motorists also kept down delays, by preventing people being sent into Chelmsford.
