Traffic management: City shows signs of getting into the swing of competition

Hundreds of thousands of spectators expected to watch the Open golf championship should find their way there easier after 36 variable-message signs were installed.
The signs – part of a £73M programme of highways improvements in Liverpool – were switched on ahead of the tournament in Hoylake, the Wirral.
The signs, costing £1.1M, will be installed and maintained by Siemens, while information will be added by 2020 Liverpool, the city council-Mouchel Parkman partnership.
