Traffic commissioners appointed to oversee road haulage and buses

Wales and the London and South East region are to get new traffic commissioners from the beginning of this month.
Nick Jones, of Wales, and Philip Brown, of the London and South East region, will be responsible for regulating the road haulage and bus industries. They will administer the licensing system for operators of heavy goods vehicles and public service vehicles, and determine the fitness of drivers of these vehicles to hold vocational licences. They will also oversee the bus registration system for local bus services. Jones will replace David Dixon, who retired on 31 March.
Brown will replace Christopher Heaps, who retired last month.
