Traffex 2015 set to celebrate record year

Europe’s largest traffic management and parking exhibition, Traffex, is set for a record year in Birmingham next week with more companies than ever taking part.

The combined Traffex and Parkex event at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham on 21 - 22 April is set to break a record with over 400 companies joining the exhibition.

The programme this year is also bolstered by the new ‘How safe do you feel?’ feature, which for the first time will give visitors the chance to see products, designs and highways techniques demonstrated on a full size public highway environment.

Included in the new feature will be a working traffic signal controlled junction, controlled pedestrian and cycle crossings, a live road works area and an ‘after dark’ viewing area for observing retro reflective safety products.

The feature will showcase products such as:

- On board safety sensors for buses and other large vehicles (a full size bus will be used to demonstrate)

- Low speed crash demonstrations of cyclist and P2W friendly products

- Products designed to highlight and warn of pedestrians at road crossings

- The use of camera and radar technologies to identify vulnerable users at crossings and bus/cycle lanes

- Take a drive in the latest autonomous vehicle, and see the future of autonomous vehicle technology first-hand as it interacts with the feature area

Event director, Bill Butler, said: ‘This year's combined Traffex and Parkex exhibition is set to be a record year. Alongside the familiar big brand names you'd expect at Traffex, we also have plenty of newcomers with over 40 companies making their debut this year.

‘Many choose Traffex as the launch pad for their very latest products and services, so visitors can expect an extensive array of new technology on display in the exhibition and feature area.

‘Visitor pre registration is 20% up on this time last year which is really good news, and gives a good indication that there is plenty of activity in the market and confidence is high.’

During the three-day event, from the 21st to the 23rd April, attendees can visit a range of CPD certified seminars from some key figures including Graham Dalton, chief executive of Highways England and professor Phil Goodwin, Emeritus Professor of transport policy at UCL and UWE.
