A three-year plan to regenerate Carlisle has been approved by the city council.
The Carlisle Renaissance Action Plan 2009-12 aims to improve the performance and competitiveness of the city centre, and open up the employment opportunities of the M6 corridor.
The proposals were drawn up by the city council, Cumbria County Council, the Northwest Regional Development Agency and Cumbria Vision.
Bryan Gray, chair of Carlisle Renaissance Board, said: ‘This is an exciting and challenging time for Carlisle, but the city’s fortunes will not be transformed overnight.’
