Thousands will gain from Cornish bypass, says minister

Transport minister, Paul Clark, has opened a multimillion-pound bypass in Cornwall.

The Highways Agency’s £54M Dobwalls bypass will divert around 21,000 vehicles a day from the centre of the Cornish village. Work on the bypass started in November 2006.

Clark said: ‘The Dobwalls bypass is an important improvement to one of Cornwall’s vital transport links, bringing benefits to the economy, visitors and local people alike.

‘I am delighted that it has brought a big improvement in quality of life for the community since traffic started using the new road. The bypass also improves transport links for local businesses and will be a welcome boost to thousands of holidaymakers who come to Cornwall during the summer months.’
