Thousands ignore limit

The ~Highways Agency~ has revealed around 3,000 drivers a day ignore 40mph restrictions on the M1.

About 150,000 vehicles travel through the cameras daily, and of those, 2.4% – about 3,000 vehicles – are exceeding the 40mph limit. A new sign has been installed to alert motorists to the fact that SPECS-type cameras are policing a 40mph speed limit in place for the HA scheme to widen the M1 between junctions 10 and 6A (Surveyor, 25 May).
