Thames Water fined for poor work and road closures in Camden

Thames Water has been fined £67,250 after pleading guilty to 60 charges of poor standards of work and illegal road closures in Camden.
The London borough council said it took action after the works caused serious disruption to residents. The council was also awarded £20,000 costs after the case last week.
The offences included: leaving the roads and footpaths in a poor state; wilful obstruction of the public highway; and unauthorised and illegal temporary road closures.
Cllr Mike Greene, executive member for environment, said: ‘Poor standards of work and illegal road closures cause major disruption to our residents so Camden Council takes these offences very seriously.’
Previously at a directions hearing on 19 January, Thames Water had entered a ‘not guilty’ plea on every offence laid against it.
