Team members given patch for speedy repair of city streets

Leicester City Council has launched rapid-response road repair units to speed up reporting and repair of highways defects.

Four teams will cover the city centre and the city’s three parliamentary constituencies, and will tackle less serious defects, between periodic inspections. ‘This scheme allows people to contact us directly about any defects on roads or pavements, and means we will be able to respond quickly to establish what work needs to be done,’ said cabinet member for transport, Patrick Kitterick.

‘Each team will also be spending time getting to know their patch well, to help them identify any problem areas which might need attention.’ The teams will respond to public complaints received via area managers or directly from customer service staff.’
