Survey reveals utilities still miss the electronic connection

An average of eight utilities are still submitting non-compliant Electronic Transfer of Notices for street works to each highway authority, a survey of England and Wales’ 173 highway authorities has revealed. The survey, carried out by IT supplier Exor just over two years before the date when EToN compliant notices must be in place, also suggests that almost 60,000 man hours were lost due to non-compliant notices having to be entered manually. Chas Bidmead, utility manager at Exor, said: ‘While it is obvious that only a small number of utilities are not complying with EToN standards, they are causing significant work for highway authorities.’
