Support grows for LRUC

 
The Government is facing renewed calls to introduce lorry road-user charging (LRUC).

Speaking at a road-user charging seminar in London last week, Gwyneth Dunwoody, chair of the transport select committee, supported a call from the Bristol Port Authority for a fresh look at LRUC, which Alistair Darling abandoned during his term as transport secretary. It was being introduced in Eastern Europe, could work to everyone’s benefit, and would help deal with particular problems arising in the London area, she said.
